P.E at Roe Valley
Physical Education plays a very important role within the life of our fabulous pupils at Roe Valley Integrated Primary School and we really do have many budding young footballers, dancers, rugby players and gymnasts amongst us.
At Roe Valley IPS we believe that a high-quality physical education curriculum should inspire and challenge all pupils to experience the joy of movement, to enable them to succeed and excel in healthy competitive sport and to equip them with skills to undertake other physically demanding activities. We believe that physical education should provide opportunities for all pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. We also believe that opportunities to compete in sport build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Roe Valley IPS is lucky to have large extensive grounds to avail of for our PE lessons with 2 large playgrounds, a large grass football/rugby pitch and of course our wonderful school hall for any of those occasions when it is just not possible to do PE outside. We are also very fortunate at Roe Valley Integrated to have a well-equipped PE department to always ensure top quality experiences for all of our children.
At Roe Valley Integrated Primary the children thoroughly enjoy their PE sessions each week and Primary 1 to Primary 7 participate in Physical Education at least two times per week. The children are extremely lucky to have the privilege of a variety of coaches who come to school to teach them lots of new and exciting skills within the area of PE ranging from Hurling, Hockey, Cricket, Rugby, Gaelic and Multi-sports.
Throughout their time at school all pupils get the chance to develop their physical skills in the following five areas of activity:
- Games
- Dance
- Gymnastics
- Athletics
- Swimming
