P3 Outdoor Learning - If You Go Down To The Woods Today…

Over the past year it has been our Primary 3 aim to embed outdoor learning into our daily lessons! Last week during our numeracy session we looked at the properties of a cube and followed the instructions to make a cube using a net template. The children thought their cubes made great ‘treasure’ boxes so we headed off to our local Country Park to see what natural treasure we could find. It is always a joy watching the children explore, discuss and learn from what they see, hear, feel and find outdoors. After collecting lots of exciting items in our cubes, we headed back to our school outdoor classroom to compare our findings and to make nature pictures! It was lovely to hear the children using descriptive language to talk about their items and use their ‘thinking skills’ to work out which trees their cones/leaves came from. Being outside is always so good for the mind and soul! Even a few animals friends wanted to join us on our adventure including a horse, goats 🐐,rabbit, squirrel 🐿️ and a very jumpy frog 🐸!
