Primary 6's Visit To The NI War Memorial
As part of our theme ‘Through the eyes of a child’ Primary 6 have been looking closely at World War 2. Today we got the fantastic opportunity to be able to travel to Belfast and visit the NI War Memorial Museum. Our day was jam packed full of activities. To begin the day we got to look at lots of pictures and find out lots of facts about WW2, Alan was super impressed with all of the knowledge we already had about World War 2. We then got to go into the museum section, here we met Billy and we got to become detectives. We had to use the clues all around the museum to work out the answers on our quiz sheet. Our favourite part of the day was getting to try on all of the old World War 2 uniforms… the jackets were extremely itchy and the helmets super heavy. We also got to learn all about rationing. We were so shocked to see the amount of food people got for a whole week, imagine trying to make 8 jelly babies last a whole week!! To end the day we got to play a World War 2 game called Night Raider. Such a fun filled educational day which was enjoyed by all! Thank you so much to Alan and Michael, our fantastic guides who looked after us all day and made the day extra fun. #NIWarMemorial #Activelearning #WorldWar2
